BETHANY, N.Y. — A 31-year-old man from Geneseo has been arrested after being accused of leaving multiple animals without food and water for weeks.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says it is believed Emmett Antonio James Sherlock left and deprived seven cats and five dogs of food and water for about three weeks at a place on Marsh Road in the Town of Bethany. The animals were recovered and brought to the Genesee County Animal Shelter.
The sheriff’s office says it is believed there were animals found dead in the place, also left without food and water.
Sherlock was arrested on Monday. He is charged with 17 counts of overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals: failure to provide proper sustenance.
Sherlock was processed at the Genesee County Jail. He was released on a scheduled appearance to the Town of Bethany Court in April.
