ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Expect multiple rounds of thundery downpours throughout today: This morning around 7-9, this afternoon around 3-5, and this evening around 8-9pm. These storms are not expected to be severe, but they will bring plenty of rain. There may be minor local flooding in poor-drainage areas and other flood-prone areas. Temperature-wise, it will actually still get pretty mild out despite a cold start. We begin in the thirties, and peak in the sixties. But after the last round of thunder this evening, winter will return.
Much colder air blasting in from the northwest behind the storms will drop overnight temperatures into the low 30s. There will be some lake flakes falling tomorrow morning mainly east of Rochester, but accumulations will be under half an inch. In general it will be more of just a cloudy and cold day with highs only in the mid 30s.
Friday another low pressure system makes its way through with some mixed precipitation and gusty winds. It will be cold again following that for the Saturday St. Patrick’s Day Parade, but other than some possible morning flurries it should stay dry. Yet another low pressure system brings yet more mixed precipitation on Sunday, and windy rain on Monday. Overall these rounds of wet weather will drop plenty of rain… Perhaps enough to cause some flooding concerns by early next week. Stay tuned for updates on that forecast.
