VICTOR, N.Y. — The Town of Victor is set to get more than $1 million in federal funding for infrastructure improvements.
The funding will be used for the replacement of an aging sanitary sewer force main along County Road 9 that has had multiple failures over the past 15 years, Morelle said. He also said, from his understanding, this pipe has released sewage over the years, causing risk for public health and the local environment.
“This community deserves better,” Morelle said. “With this funding, the town will be able to replace the aging line with a stronger, modern pipe built to serve Victor reliably for decades to come.”
When completed, the project will replace the existing 10-inch ductile iron pipe that was installed nearly 35 years ago. Morelle said it will be replaced with a modern 12-inch high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe designed to improve reliability, prevent future failures, and protect the surrounding environment.
“By replacing this 36-year-old force main with corrosion resistant piping, we are not just fixing a recurring maintenance issue – we are making an investment in the long-term health of our local environment,” said Victor Town Supervisor Jack Marren.
Morelle said while Victor continues to grow, the infrastructure also must keep pace with the town’s growth.
Although replacing the infrastructure isn’t a visible thing, Morelle said it “forms the foundation that allows neighborhoods and communities to thrive, businesses to expand, and families to feel confident about the future.”
