The Rams made another big splash in the first hour of the legal tampering period on Monday, agreeing to terms with free-agent cornerback Jaylen Watson, multiple sources confirmed.
Watson, 27, signed a three-year deal with the Rams. He was a seventh-round pick by the Chiefs in 2022. In his four seasons in Kansas City, he recorded 24 pass breakups and three interceptions, as well as four sacks.
At 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, Watson provides the kind of big body the Rams need at outside cornerback to match up with physical receivers, an archetype that gave the Rams fits in 2025.
He is the second big acquisition the Rams have made at cornerback in the past week, joining former Chiefs teammate Trent McDuffie, whom the Rams traded four draft picks for and signed to the most lucrative contract extension for a cornerback in history.
Outside cornerback was a major need for the Rams entering the offseason with three contributors entering the free-agent market and Darious Williams retiring. But with the moves to acquire Watson and McDuffie to pair with returner Emmanuel Forbes, the Rams have remade the room.
