After overnight thunderstorms and multiple rounds of rain, a rather windy Saturday is in store for the Chicago area with a noticeable temperature drop of around 20 degrees.
Live Doppler 5 showed rain ending at around 6:30 a.m., although NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack said he could not rule out the possibility of a stray shower as the morning progresses and winds shift.
At around 8 a.m., temperatures held steady around 60 degrees at what was expected to be the warmest point of the entire day. Sack said readings will drop to around the 50-degree mark and then into the 40s in the afternoon.
Clouds will likely linger throughout most of the day, though some breaks in the cloud cover may occur later on around sunset.
Winds out of the southwest to west at 15 to 20 miles per hour will arrive in the afternoon, with higher gusts possible. Clouds will clear out in the evening, Sack said, as winds temporarily ease before picking up again on Sunday morning.
Sunday will begin with low temperature around 30 degrees and plenty of sunshine headed our way. Breezy conditions will persist, however.
Wind gusts could again top the 30 mile per hour mark, but nonetheless we’ll see temperatures around 50 degrees by noon. Temperatures will rise to the low 60s by the afternoon; the anticipated high is 62 degrees – under mostly sunny skies and gusty southwesterly winds.
And on Sunday, daylight saving time officially gets underway.
Remember to set your clocks forward either before you go to bed Saturday or before you wake up on Sunday, as the time change takes effect at 2 a.m.
With the shift, sunset will occur roughly around 7 p.m., and Sack said he expects a nice one.
Breezy and warm conditions continue Monday, with temperatures topping out in the upper 60s by the afternoon. A stray 70-degree reading will be possible.
Mild conditions will persist on Tuesday, with highs in the low-to-mid 60s, but storms are possible then. Rain will be likely on Wednesday as cooler air arrives and highs sit in the upper 40s.
From there – prepare for even chillier weather; Thursday’s high only reaches the low 40s.
The chance of rain won’t end immediately, as Friday brings another possibility of showers. A chilly weekend will be on tap afterward, with the possibility of rain and maybe even a few snowflakes mixed in next Sunday.
