HOPEWELL, N.Y. — Eight fire departments battled a fire that destroyed a garage on Swamp Road in the Town of Hopewell on Thursday night.

Deputies and firefighters arrived around 8:30 p.m. and found the garage and the side of a house engulfed in flames, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. The family was home at the time, but no one was injured.

Crews managed to stop the fire from spreading to the east side of the home. The Ontario County Fire Coordinator is still investigating the cause.
