Futures qualifier Luke Dinusson-Wiger has announced his commitment to swim for Washington & Lee University beginning in the fall of 2026.
A senior at Brookfield Central High School in Wisconsin, Dinusson-Wiger has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team all four years. He also trains year-round with Elmbrook Swim Club, primarily specializing in breaststroke, sprint backstroke, and IM.
Elmbrook Swimming said on Instagram: “This exciting opportunity is a result of Luke’s hard work in the classroom and the pool. Luke, the EBSC community is very proud of and happy for you. Go Generals!”
Dinusson-Wiger recently made his first ‘A’ final at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division 1 State Championships in November. He finished eighth in the 200 IM (1:55.14), dropping four tenths from his best time set at the same meet a year prior, and took 10th in the 100 breast (58.29), his second-best time ever. As a junior, he finished 12th in the 200 IM and 15th in the 100 breast (58.93), having made the ‘B’ final in both events as a sophomore with times of 1:56.16 and 59.45, and taking 18th in the 200 IM (1:59.64) as a freshman.
His personal bests date back to November 2024 at the IFLY A3 Midwest Challenge, where he entered with bests of 59.45, 2:15.02, and 53.91 in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 100 back before breaking through in a big way, clocking 57.92, 2:12.30, and 52.91.
Over the summer, Dinusson-Wiger competed at the Futures Championship (LCM) in Madison, where he went five-for-five in personal best performances. He placed 64th in the 50 breast (30.81), 76th in the 50 back (28.55), 90th in the 100 breast (1:08.68), 91st in the 100 back (1:01.45), and 125th in the 50 free (25.30).

Based on this season’s conference championship results, it took 58.15, 53.03, and 1:55.21 to earn a spot in the ‘A’ final of the 100 breast, 100 back, and 200 IM respectively, all of which Dinusson-Wiger’s best times just edge out. His best time in the 200 breast would have been quick enough to make the ‘B’ final, with 2:08.14 needed to secure a lane in the ‘A’ heat.
On the team’s 2026-27 depth chart, when factoring in graduations and incoming recruits, Dinusson-Wiger is projected to rank first in the 100 breast, third in the 100 back and 200 breast, and fourth in the 200 IM, making him a versatile option for both dual meets and the medley relays.
Dinusson-Wiger joins Logan Divine (fly/sprint free), Owen Cullaty (fly/IM), and middle-distance freestylers Dean Smith, Erik Szabo, and William Thomas, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
