Jelly Roll may have looked right at home on the 2026 Grammy Awards stage, but he was pushing through serious pain behind the scenes.

“I’ve been keeping a secret from y’all… ?,” the “Wild Ones” hitmaker, 41, captioned a new Instagram video posted on March 1, revealing that he sustained an injury from an ATV accident leading up to the star-studded event last month.

“Y’all just took this thing out for the first time since I flipped it,” Jelly Roll (real name Jason Bradley DeFord) said in the clip as he showed off the newly fixed vehicle, which his brother repaired for him. “I broke my collarbone.”

“I was so scared to get back on this thing,” the chart-topping performer admitted. “I just knew if I didn’t get back on it sooner than later, I was just going to be more and more afraid of it.”

Jelly Roll said he was surprised the ATV looked brand-new, adding, “I figured I had totaled it.”

“I was just thinking, I was out there running all over the Grammys with a broken collarbone,” he recalled about the February 1 event, revealing he was silently suffering despite being dressed to impress.

“Every time I hugged somebody that week, I wanted to scream,” Jelly Roll confessed, sharing an X-ray image of his fracture. “I just didn’t say it, but every time somebody squeezed me, dude, I thought I was gonna cry.”

Why Jelly Roll Is Donating One of His Grammys to Local Nashville Jail

His wife, Bunnie Xo (real name Alisa DeFord), commented, “Worst day of my life lol.”

At this year’s Grammys, Jelly Roll walked away with prizes for Best Contemporary Country Album, Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Shaboozey and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

“Jesus, I hear you, and I am listening, Lord, I am listening, Lord,” he said during a speech on stage, praising his wife, 46, for her unwavering support while also thanking his label, BBR Music Group, and country radio.

“I would have never changed my life without you,” he told Bunnie Xo. “I would have been dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus.”

The singer continued, “There was a time in my life, y’all, where I was broken. That was why I wrote this album. I didn’t think I had a chance. There was a moment in my life that I thought all I had was a Bible this big and a radio the same size in a six-by-eight foot cell and I believed that those two things could change my life. I believed that music had the power to change my life and God had the power to change my life.”

Country Star Jelly Roll and Wife Bunnie XO’s Relationship Timeline

Jelly Roll and his wife have been married since 2016, although they split briefly in 2018 after she learned of his affair. “I tried to be as real as possible with the situation,” Bunnie exclusively told Us Weekly about what she shared in her memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, which hit shelves on February 17. “I think I might have even toned it down.”

“It’s raw, it’s emotional and it’s a journey,” she added of that chapter in their romance. “I’m so happy for people who have never had to go through anything traumatic in their relationships.”

She continued, “But I just feel like my husband and I had to go through that because it’s part of our testimony. It’s a part of what we’ve survived — we choose to be together every day.”
