PERINTON, N.Y. — A person was found dead after a house fire late Friday night on Whitney Road.
Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:32 p.m. to a structure fire on Whitney Road along with multiple fire agencies for a report of a structure fire.
When crews arrived, the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Whitney Road was closed between Walkman Road and Briarwood Lane for several hours as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
After putting out the fire, crews located a deceased individual inside the home. Authorities believe the person was the only resident of the house. The body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for official identification.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
