Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian expatriates, Badr Abdelatty held talks with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs, as part of continuous coordination and consultation with the United States on various issues of common interest.
The talks addressed the developments of the situation in Sudan and ways to support efforts aimed at restoring stability to the country.Minister Abdelatty briefed Massad Boulos on Egypt’s regional and international moves to support brotherly Sudan, pointing in this context to Egypt’s chairing of the African Union Peace and Security Council ministerial session on developments in Sudan.
He also noted the visit of Kamil Idriss, Prime Minister Sudan, to Cairo, which reflected the growing momentum in the pace of high-level political consultation between the two countries.He emphasized the importance of supporting Sudanese state institutions and maintaining the country’s unity and territorial integrity, as well as supporting the water rights of the two brotherly nations.
The Foreign Minister affirmed the rejection of any attempts that undermine Sudan’s unity or territorial integrity, stressing the necessity of preserving the sovereignty of the Sudanese state and supporting its national institutions.He also underscored the importance of continuing diligent efforts within the framework of the International Quartet, expressing his aspiration to continue cooperation and coordination with the United States to contribute to de-escalation efforts and create an environment for resuming a comprehensive political path in Sudan.
For his part, Massad Boulos expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by Egypt in dealing with the Sudanese crisis, stressing the United States’ keenness to continue consultation and coordination with Egypt to support de-escalation efforts and enhance opportunities for reaching a sustainable political settlement in Sudan.
