PITTSFORD, N.Y. — On Thursday evening, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies did a welfare check in the Town of Pittsford on Stone Road, shooting and killing a dog that attacked.
A deputy walked up the driveway of the home when a dog had gotten loose from the breezeway and attacked the deputy, the report tells us.
The dog bit the deputy in the leg, and the deputy responded by shooting and killing the dog, deputies say.
One person within the home was taken to the hospital after the welfare check. The report says the person was not involved in the incident with the dog attack.
The deputy was also taken to a local hospital and eventually released.
The investigation is ongoing.
