OAKLAND — Police have already gone to St. Louis to arrest one suspect in a Dec. 29, 2025 killing, and now they’re looking for another.
Last week, prosecutors filed murder and robbery charges against Micari Fluker, 23, in the death of Stacy Tidwell IV. In court filings, police identified Fluker as the suspected driver of a car that took several suspects to a pre-arranged location for what was supposed to be a drug deal, but turned out to be an ambush.
Tidwell showed up to the location, near Fremont High, and was fatally shot during a struggle. Tidwell was with a man who survived the encounter and drove him to a hospital afterwards.
The suspected shooter, 18-year-old Marjee “Lil Jae” Martin, was charged last month with murder and arrested in St. Louis. After being extradited to the Bay Area, he still hasn’t entered a plea, court records show.
Police say Fluker was identified as a suspect through “electronic evidence, surveillance footage, and witness statements.” He is being charged under the felony murder rule, which allows prosecutors to charge accomplices with murder even if they’re not the actual killer, court records show.
Tidwell was nearly killed in another Oakland shooting just 16 months before his death. His father, Stacy Tidwell III, was shot and killed in Oakland in 2003, when Tidwell IV was just 3 years old, according to media reports.
Police have identified Stacy Tidwell IV as a Campbell Village Gang member, and surveilled his Jan. 30 funeral, fearing escalation or retaliation over his homicide. The stakeout ended with an arrest, when police spotted Savion Drinkwater, 29, leaving the area with a gun, according to court records.
Drinkwater, an Oakland resident, allegedly fled from police, crashed his car, then attempted to steal a vehicle from another motorist, police said in court filings. He has been charged with evading police, unlawful firearm activity, and resisting arrest, but is out of custody while the case is pending, records show.
Drinkwater’s passenger in the car, a participant in misdemeanor diversion for allegedly running from police after a May 2025 traffic stop, was detained but not arrested, court records show.
Fluker was previously arrested for questioning in Tidwell’s death, but released before prosecutors had enough to charge him, court records show. Martin is suspected of sending text messages to arrange the drug deal. At least one other suspect was seen participating in the robbery and homicide, authorities say.
