A fire burned about 6.5 acres along U.S. 85 in Ault on Wednesday night.
Ault police and fire personnel responded to a vegetation fire near the intersection of U.S. 85 and Jackie Ann Street, according to an Ault Police Department news release. The highway closed for a short period while fire crews extinguished the fire along a half-mile stretch of U.S. 85.
The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported and no structures were damaged. The fire caused significant damage to the nearby railroad, according to the release, and Union Pacific Railroad are evaluating the damage before the tracks reopen.
