ATTICA, N.Y. — A former inmate at Attica Correctional Facility has been convicted of assaulting a corrections officer.
A jury found Michael Nero guilty of assault this week.
Nero had been serving a 15-year sentence for burglary and assault at Attica. Nero was arrested last July for attacking a guard in 2023. The guard was conducting a search for weapons among inmates.
Nero now faces a sentence of five to 25 years to life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for March 18.
