OAKLAND — An Antioch woman has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a semi-automatic firearm in the Feb. 8 shooting of a man in the Uptown district who was beating up her brother with another man, according to authorities and court records.
The woman’s brother is also charged with being an accessory for allegedly helping her leave the shooting scene and hide the gun used, and battery for allegedly punching a police officer trying to catch her, according to court records.
Charged with attempted murder and two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm is Sierra Wiley, 26. She was being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail and is scheduled to possibly enter a plea on Friday.
Her 24-year-old brother, also of Antioch, is being sought.
The shooting, which left a 34-year-old Vallejo man with five bullet wounds, happened about 4:08 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 500 block of 17th Street near Telegraph Avenue in the Uptown district. The wounded man is still hospitalized.
According to court records, based on surveillance video, the brother was involved in a physical fight with the man who ended up getting shot and another man. He did not know the men and the fight may have been over a woman, authorities said.
The brother was being punched and kicked by the two men when his sister allegedly opened fire on them, wounding the Vallejo man, the documents say.
She ran to a parking lot in the 1600 block of San Pablo Avenue, where she discarded the gun and some clothing, and returned to the scene of the shooting, according to court records.
As she was running to the lot, her brother allegedly punched a police officer trying to catch her, and he was arrested. He later made bail.
When she got back to the shooting scene, Wiley identified herself to officers, who noted she was wearing some of the same clothing seen on a shooting suspect in surveillance video.
But no one present at the shooting could positively identify her as the shooter and she was allowed to leave, according to the documents.

In an interview with investigators, Wiley allegedly admitted to being in Oakland near a club near the shooting scene at the time of the shooting and that her brother “was being jumped” by some males, the records say.
She said she did not feel safe and “fired a gun,” claiming she did not aim at anyone and did not know how many times she fired, the documents say. She claimed she got rid of the gun, a hat she was wearing and her jacket in the parking lot, but later returned and retrieved the items. She said she left the gun in her car trunk but when officers said they did not find it, she said her trunk was left open and she did not know where it went, the documents say.
