For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Junior Nationals qualifier Will Harrison has announced his verbal commitment to compete for the University of Arizona beginning in the fall of 2026.

“I am stoked to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of Arizona. Thank you to all of my Coaches and teammates especially Coach Slay and Coach Aaron for helping me achieve this and thank you to my family for supporting me along the way. Bear Down!”

A senior at Champion High School in Boerne, Texas, Harrison has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team all four years. In addition to competing for the Chargers, he currently trains year-round with Streamline Aquatics, where he excels at sprint free, back and fly.

Harrison has qualified for the Texas high school state championships each year since he was a freshman, with his top performances coming during his junior season. At the 2025 UIL (University Interscholastic League) 5A State Championship, he took 3rd in the 50 free (20.28 – PB) and 6th in the 100 fly (50.08) after recording a personal best time of 49.64 in the 100 fly during prelims. He also helped his team bring home a championship title in the 200 free relay.

At the 2025 Junior National Championships (LCM) in July, Harrison logged two new personal best performances. He contested the 50 free (23.69 – PB), 50 back (28.33 – PB), 100 back (53.31) and 50 fly (26.22).

This season, Harrison turned in a series of strong swims at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships – West in December. He earned a second swim in the 50 free, placing 18th in 20.18, and 29th in the 100 free (44.69), setting new lifetime bests in both events. He also raced the 200 free (1:42.03).

A few weeks later, Harrison improved his times even further at the 2025 SASA Tis the Season competition. He won the 50 back (23.83) and 50 fly (22.71), clocking personal best times in both, and took 1st during the prelims of the 100 back (51.35 – PB) but opted not to race the event again in finals.

Best Times SCY

50 free – 20.18 100 free – 44.69 50 back – 23.83 100 back – 51.35 50 fly – 22.71 100 fly – 49.64

A Division I program, Arizona competes in the Big 12 Conference, with the Wildcats taking the runner-up spot behind ASU at last season’s conference championships. To earn a second swim at the 2025 Big 12 Conference Championships, it took times of 20.18/44.06 in the 50/100 free, 48.96 in the 100 back and 48.30 in the 100 fly, putting Harrison just outside the cutoff in each of his top events.

Based on Arizona’s top times so far this season, Harrison would rank 7th in the 50 back and 100 back, 8th in the 50 free, 9th in the 100 fly, 12th in the 50 fly and 14th in the 100 free and 100 fly on the team itself. With the Wildcats set to lose ten swimmers at the end of the season, Harrison should help fill some of the gaps left behind and bring added depth to the team in the fall, although it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out.

Outside of swimming, Harrison also excels at water polo; he was named the 2024 San Antonio Express-News Athlete of the Year in water polo, and in his final season playing for Champion High School, he helped the Chargers secure a bronze medal at the 2025 UIL state tournament.

Harrison is the latest in his family to pursue swimming at the collegiate level, as his mom Kate swam for Yale University and his brother Bexon Harrison is wrapping up his freshman season at South Carolina.

“I’ve been lucky to have great coaches who believe in my goals,” Harrison said. “I believe the program at U of Arizona is moving in a positive direction and I think I’ll be a great fit for the swim program.”

Currently set to join Harrison in Tucson are Lucas Huckabay, Grant Pier, Nazar Zoukovski, Cole Faut, Vito Sgroi and Lucas Morin, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
