Across the two games on Friday, freshmen Pallozzi and Vic Moten combined to strike out a total of 13 batters while only allowing three hits.

Roman continued her strong day at the plate, hitting her second home run of the day. With her performance on Friday, Roman increased her season total to five home runs, the team lead.

“A perfect game by a freshman in game one and a complete game shutout by a freshman in game two,” head coach Patrick Murphy said. “I’m not sure I’ve seen two better pitched games by freshmen in my career at Alabama.”

Game 3: No. 6 Florida State

Saturday, Alabama defeated Florida State 5-1 to complete the weekend sweep.

The win improved No. 8 Alabama to 12-0 on the season and dropped No. 6 Florida State to 11-4.

Game 4: Dartmouth

Softball closed out the weekend series with a 3-2 win over Dartmouth. The Crimson Tide trailed early, only to come back and keep the undefeated run alive.

Dartmouth captured the lead in the third after a runless two innings. The long weekend was showing for the Crimson Tide, when an error and a rundown allowed Dartmouth to secure its two runs.

Alabama was kept away from home through the bottom of the third and fourth. But the Crimson Tide finally got on the board in the fifth. With two outs on the board, Larissa Preuitt stole third and sprinted home after a throw went awry. Jena Young then got walked and advanced into scoring position after a wild pitch. With Young on second, Marlie Giles belted a double into the outfield for the tying RBI.

Facing a full count with two outs, Alexis Pupillo drove Giles home with a go-ahead single.

The Crimson Tide scored three runs with two batters already down, and held the Dartmouth bats for the rest of the game.

“Credit to Dartmouth, they definitely pushed us today. Their pitcher threw a great game,” head coach Patrick Murphy said. “It was the type of game we needed to experience as a hitter and on defense because the last few innings were pressure-packed.”

Alabama now returns to Rhoads Stadium to host the UAB Blazers on Tuesday.
