CAIRO, Feb 22 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development plays a central role in shaping Egypt’s economic direction, noting that the government has finalized a post-IMF agreement national economic program based on the National Narrative for Comprehensive Development.
During a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Capital on Sunday, Madbouly said a three-year budget framework will be presented to the parliament, stressing the need to move quickly on key economic reforms.
Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom outlined the ministry’s three-year strategy, aligned with directives from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The plan focuses on boosting production, energy and food security, human development, private sector participation, and expanding into priority sectors such as ICT, rare minerals, and renewable energy, Rostom said.
The strategy also aims to raise growth to 6.5–7.5% by 2030, enhance employment through new initiatives, accelerate the implementation of the Universal Health Insurance System, and prioritize completion of the Decent Life Presidential Initiative, he noted.
The minister added that reforms will strengthen public investment governance, expand digital planning tools, diversify development financing, and support green transformation, while ensuring improved living standards and social protection for citizens. (MENA)
