Porter posted a video to his campaign’s Instagram page that included the SGA president’s seal, which the Elections Board constituted as “a clear violation of the Elections Manual,” awarding the campaign the violation.
“Because the campaign appeared remorseful, removed the video shortly after posting, and implemented additional review procedures for future digital materials, the maximum penalty points were not assessed,” read the ruling.
According to the SGA elections manual, “minor” violations are usually worth 4-6 points per infraction.
Porter declined to provide additional comment.
