While Mark Pope indirectly slammed officiating after the game, Otega Oweh took to social media to voice his displeasure. The standout Kentucky guard – who scored a game-high 29 points – posted an Instagram story with the comment, “These refs gon do it every time.”

The Wildcats, up 1 point with just seconds remaining, were set to inbound the ball and, assuming an Auburn foul was incoming, would have attempted free throws to make it a 3-point game. There’s no guarantee that Kentucky would have won or even made its free throws, but it’s much easier to protect a 2 or 3-point lead compared to a 1-point lead.
Chandler was called for a push-off against Auburn’s Kevin Overton, who fell to the ground while fighting for position. Some fans accuse Overton of flopping and holding Chandler before the foul was called.
Either way, the call was made and Auburn received the ball with a chance to win it. Following a Keyshawn Murphy miss at the rim, Auburn’s Elyjah Freeman flew in, corralled the ball and put it through the hoop for the game-winning score.
Kentucky is heading in the wrong direction as March approaches. The Wildcats have lost 3 straight and still have to play Florida, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt before the end of the regular season. The Wildcats currently hold a 95% chance to reach the postseason per Kalshi, but they’ll have to start actually winning games down the stretch to cross the finish line.
