He threw 31 pitches in the first inning and was pulled with two outs. He returned to face one batter in the second. “His stuff was good,” manager Kurt Suzuki said. “He gave up some ground balls with two strikes that found holes. But I thought overall he looked good.” … Left-hander Mitch Farris faced six hitters in the second inning and retired only one. He was charged with five runs on four hits. … Left-hander Sam Aldegheri gave up one run in 1⅓ innings, with an infield hit leading to the run. …  Left-hander Sammy Natera Jr. gave up a run on three straight hits to begin his inning. He struck out the next three to minimize the damage. … Right-hander Najer Victor pitched a scoreless inning, averaging 97 mph with his fastball. Victor is in the minor-league camp, but he’s getting some extra looks because he’s prepping to pitch for Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic. … Angels minor-league right-hander Keythel Key gave up four runs in the ninth.

HITTING REPORT: Jorge Soler hit a ball off the left-field fence for a double in his first plate appearance of the spring. Soler also hit a ball down the line 103 mph. Although the third baseman stopped it with a dive, Soler got an infield single. … Jo Adell came about five feet short of a two-run homer. Instead, Dodgers left fielder Teoscar Hernandez dropped the ball and Adell reached on a two-base error. … Zach Neto was successful on the Angels’ first ABS challenge of the spring. A low pitch was called a strike, and Neto had it overturned. Neto still struck out in both of his at-bats. … Logan O’Hoppe drove in a run with a single and was hit by a pitch.

DEFENSE REPORT: Third baseman Yoán Moncada couldn’t make a play on a ball hit to his backhand side. It was ruled a double. He also made an error when he bobbled a routine ground ball.
