A man was killed and another wounded in a gang-related shooting on Friday night in Santa Ana, police said.
Officers were dispatched at around 9 p.m. on Feb. 20 to the 1200 block of East Borchard Avenue after receiving a report of a man who had been shot, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. At the scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital, and is expected to survive, police said.
About five minutes after the initial call, officers responded to reports of a man lying in the roadway in the 700 block of East Elder Avenue. That man, later identified as David Nicholas Bravo Martinez of Santa Ana, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said the victims were driving in the area of East Elder Avenue when they were shot. The surviving victim then drove to East Borchard Avenue, where he contacted police. Martinez was later located at the original shooting location, authorities said.
