First Alert Weather: Big east coast storm will indirectly impact Rochester ...Middle East

News by : (News10NBC) -

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A big storm known as a nort’easter will be blasting up the east coast over the next 48 hours.  Snow will accumulate around a foot or more from Philadelphia to New York City.  Near Boston snowfall could exceed 18 inches with wind speeds gusting to between 30 to 60 miles per hour.  As a result, the I-95 corridor will likely see blizzard conditions for later Sunday and Monday. This will be a “shut-down storm” for one of the most populated portions of the country.

Western New York will be right on the fringe of the storm and will only have an indirect impact in the coming days.  Snow and ice have been melting the last few days, but it is likely we will be replacing some of this snow through mid-week.  However, for Rochester snowfall it will be slow and gradual over the next 72 hours.  Each day through Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday snow accumulation should be only an inch or two for each time period.  In addition, at times the temperature will be above freezing, which should also limit the accumulation. It appears the coldest day of the week will be Tuesday when the mercury will not get out of the 20s.
