Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, which has been closed since sustaining flood damage from Tropical Depression Chantal, announced an upcoming “Community Day” in partnership with local nonprofit PORCH.
On Saturday, Feb. 28 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., diners will be able to return to Snooze’s Eastgate Crossing location for a free entree and a free non-alcoholic drink. Rather than being given a bill, they will be able to make a donation directly to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro chapter of PORCH, a local group fighting hunger.
The event comes ahead of a full reopening for the restaurant, the date of which Snooze has yet to announce. There are limited seats available for Community Day, and interested customers can make reservations here.
Snooze’s Eastgate location first opened in November 2023. It is a Colorado-based chain, with its Chapel Hill restaurant serving as its fourth in North Carolina. The menu features specialty pancakes, eggs benedicts, and breakfast sandwiches, and more.
The restaurant’s collaboration with PORCH is not its first. Leading up to its 2023 grand opening, it partnered with both it and another nonprofit, Best Buddies North Carolina, which focuses on creating opportunities and friendships for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In July 2025, Eastgate Crossing was hit particularly hard by Tropical Depression Chantal, permanently shuttering some of its businesses and temporarily shutting down others, including Snooze. A PR representative for the restaurant confirmed to Chapelboro in January that it was eyeing a February reopening date. The update from Snooze comes hot on the heels of another Eastgate restaurant, Kipos Greek Taverna, which announced its upcoming reopening last week.
