For the second straight week and fifth time this season, University of Northern Colorado men’s basketball player Quinn Denker was named the Big Sky Conference player of the week.
Denker was selected after averaging 22.5 points in two home games last week against Sacramento State and Portland State. He scored 45 total points in the two games while shooting 57.1% from the floor with 23 total assists. He also averaged 7.5 rebounds in the two games. Denker’s 16 assists Feb. 12 against Sacramento State set a new UNC single-game record.

The Big Sky Conference announced the award Tuesday.
Denker leads the Bears in scoring with 18.6 points in 25 games, which is third best in the Big Sky. Denker leads the conference in assists with 7.4. Portland State guard Jaylin Henderson is second in assists with 5.8.
Denker shared the conference player of the week award Feb. 10 with Sacramento State guard Keyon Kensie Jr.
He was named player of the week three times during the nonconference season — before the Big Sky schedule began Jan. 1. He earned solo back-to-back honors Nov. 25 and Dec. 2 and again Dec. 30.
UNC's next game is 6 p.m. Saturday when the Bears host Northern Arizona for senior day at Bank of Colorado Arena. UNC is 17-10 and 7-7 in the Big Sky with a six-game winning streak in the conference.
