ROCHESTER N.Y. – It was another day of dripping and melting as the temperature rose to above freezing today. The temperature did reach above 32 degrees for Rochester, and that has only happened on two other occasions for this month of February.
More milting is on the way as more seasonable; reasonable weather is expected for the next few days. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday should be mainly dry with each day bringing temperatures into the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.
Then conditions begin to change by the middle of the week. A ridge of cold, Arctic air will be anchored to the north with a more warm, moist flow to the south. That will leave Western New York in the middle of these two airmasses with the potential for overrunning precipitation. This time of the year, overrunning precipitation brings a wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain. The extent of any icy weather is still uncertain, but the News10NBC First Alert meteorologists will continue to monitor the changes in the data that could impact the forecast. At this time, there is no change to the threat tracker.
