The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, 78, announced in his Facebook stories that he’s taking a break from his work as a DJ on BBC Radio’s 6 Music channel.
He shared a slide from the BBC on his official Facebook account making the announcement. “Iggy Pop is taking an extended break from the station to focus on music projects and will return in 2027,” reads the first part of the message.
The “Jarvis” Pop mentions is Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker, who Pop initially replaced when he went on hiatus from his Sunday show in March 2014, per The Independent.
There are only three tour engagements currently listed on his official website. Pop is playing both Sundays of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif., on April 12 and 19. That day the festival is headlined by Latin music superstar Karol G with Young Thug, Kaskade, Laufey, Major Lazer, Wet Leg and dozens of others on the bill.
His final announced date currently listed on his website is Aug. 21 in his hometown of Detroit at Comerica Park, opening for My Chemical Romance on that band’s “The Black Parade” tour.
Iggy is also featured on a just released song “God’s Lonely Man” by Anna Calvi that was recently debuted on BBC 6 Music. It’s featured on Calvi’s four-song EP Is This All There Is? which is set for a March 20 release.
