ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Are you looking to perform at the ESL Rochester Fringe Festival next September? Show submissions open on Tuesday, Feb. 17, starting at 9 a.m. Eastern Time. There’s no cost to apply.
The 15th annual Fringe Festival kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and runs through Saturday, Sept. 26. Last year’s festival brought world-class performers in dance, theater, music, comedy, filmmaking, visual arts, acrobatics, magic, and more to Rochester. It featured more than 1,600 performers from over a dozen countries. News10NBC got to speak to several of them.
How to apply
Local, national, and international performers can apply to perform through the Fringe Festival website. This year’s performances will take place at nearly 40 venues and dozens of venues will be accepting applications starting next week. Performers should include their production plans in the application and select as many venues as they desire.
Each venue selects and books its own shows directly with artists. Bookings happen on a rolling admission basis throughout the submission period, so applying early is better. If your show requires a non-traditional, unique space, you can request a “site-specific” setting.
Applications will be accepted through March 31 at noon Eastern Time. The entire festival lineup will be announced in July, which is also when all tickets will go on sale.
Application information session
The School of the Arts on Prince Street is holding an information session on Saturday, Feb. 28, to learn more about options for Fringe Festival venues. It starts at 3 p.m.
People can also meet one-on-one with managers of some of the festival’s largest venues, pitch shows, or get advice from venue managers. The event is free and you can register here.
