Embracing the Tank, Lineup Wishes, Windy-Brick City, NBA Fight(s) Club, and Other Bulls Bullets ...Middle East

Don’t call me a broken record, but for the third time this season, the Bulls are on a five-game losing streak, and I couldn’t commend them more. This team has reached a point where its current talent is good enough to look competitive, but not good enough to steal wins we don’t need. A loss to a tanking Brooklyn Nets team is all the proof you need that I’m right.

And in one of my rare moments of hope, I took a look at the Bulls’ upcoming schedule, and I don’t see this losing streak ending anytime soon.

Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

© Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images The Chicago Bulls have now dropped five straight and sit at 0–3 in the “new-look era.” Even when the numbers and the eye test say otherwise, the lack of size will always be a drag on this team’s ceiling, and a glance at the calendar suggests that problem isn’t going away anytime soon. Over the next ten games, the Bulls face the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks, OKC Thunder, Phoenix Suns, and Sacramento Kings. In that stretch, I can realistically only see a win against the Kings, because they tank better than anyone, without even trying. That means this current five-game skid could quietly climb into the uncharted territory of 14 or 15 straight losses. Somehow, that’s both a best-case scenario and a very realistic one. In last night’s loss, Chicago still had its moments, short runs that actually showed some promise. I love that Rob Dillingham is getting the chance to regain his confidence and find a rhythm before everyone returns and he has to fight for every minute again. It’s clearly lighting a fire under him, pushing him to set career highs on the glass and empty out his entire bag just to generate a few oohs and aahs. Stop me if I’m being greedy, but I’d love to see minutes with Rob, Jaden Ivey, and Matas Buzelis on the floor together, just to see how those puzzle pieces fit into the bigger picture.

Not everyone needs to settle for threes just because the margin feels too big. This was an issue even when the Bulls were “not trying to lose.” I don’t want that becoming a culture thing, because whatever you embed into this team now is going to be hard to undo later. And unless you have Steph Curry on your roster, there’s no reason to launch 36 threes when you’re only making 10. Elsewhere around the NBA, two actual fights broke out—and when I say fights, I don’t mean verbal. Hands were thrown, and I’d expect a wave of suspensions to follow. The first one popped off in Charlotte, sparked by Jalen Duren and Moussa Diabaté. Things escalated quickly when Miles Bridges went AWOL, trying to throw haymakers at Duren after the initial scuffle was broken up. That, in turn, brought Isaiah Stewart off the bench to defend his teammate and fully insert himself into the chaos. Diabaté, Bridges, Duren, and Stewart were all ejected and are almost certainly facing suspensions. Duren being an All-Star makes this even more interesting, so I’m curious to see how the league handles that.

— ESPN (@espn) February 10, 2026 From a Bulls perspective, though, this is bad news. The Pistons play Chicago immediately after the All-Star break, and there’s a real chance Detroit is without both of their bigs. That could mean an unwanted win incoming. The second incident involved just two players and had no Bulls implications. It was between Naz Reid and Mouhamed Gueye in the matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Atlanta Hawks. This one featured a whole lot of jersey grabbing, plenty of chaos, and, most likely, some suspensions on the way as well. I tuned in for Ayo Dosunmu, but ended up getting my combat sports fix too.

He gave the PR answer, saying it felt on par with Chicago, and mentioned that the last time he was there with the Bulls, he got a taste of it for a stretch in the second half. That’s when Anthony Edwards yelled from the back that the crowd was cheering because he was “bustin’ your a**.” To which Chicago’s own Ayo Dosunmu calmly reminded him of the final result.

Ayo Dosunmu was asked about the environment at Target Center"When we played here, I know that around the 3rd quarter, 4th quarter it got real loud here."Anthony Edwards jumped in, "I was bustin your ass, that's why".Ayo then reminded Ant, "we beat y'all ass". pic.twitter.com/bUy5pn9OXt
