Our Chicago Bulls are fully (semi-neptly) embracing the tank, a little late in the season after accruing 24 unnecessary wins by the trade deadline. The club may be a whopping eight second-round picks richer (they also have swapped second-round picks with the Boston Celtics), but — for now — Chicago only has one first for this year’s 2026 NBA Draft.
The Portland Trail Blazers, however, are striving to change all that. Portland brought in sharpshooter Vit Krejci at the deadline, while point guard Scoot Henderson is finally back from an injury that had sidelined him from the start of the season. The Trail Blazers currently occupy the Western Conference’s No. 10 seed, but the 28-25 Golden State Warriors and 25-27 LA Clippers seem to be slipping.
Should Portland secure a playoff seed by the play-in tournament, its first-round pick would convey to Chicago. Both the teams ahead of the Trail Blazers seem beatable in one-off games now.
The Bulls have vaulted up in the Tankathon rankings from the No. 14 pick to the No. 10 pick. And we’re projecting that they’ll draft a rising big — 6-foot-8 Arizona freshman power forward Koa Peat.
The top three continues to shuffle around. As they did last week, the lowly Sacramento Kings would land the top selection. But this week, we’ve got them bringing aboard BYU small forward AJ Dybantsa. Oft-hurt Kansas wing Darryn Peterson, meanwhile, slips to the third pick.
