ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jamie Busch, who is accused of killing her sister, goes to trial Tuesday morning.

Police say Jamie dumped the body of Penny Busch in the Genesee River after strangling her to death in her home in Honeoye Falls before dumping her body in October of 2024.

Jamie faced charges of murder and tampering with evidence. Investigators say the two lived together, and say the killing stemmed from a fight between them.

The case started as a missing person report in October 2024. Deputies say she was last seen leaving her home on October 6. MCSO later did a welfare check at the home on October 11, but no one answered the door and deputies were suspicious. They found her body in the river on October 14.

Cell phone records, search warrants, and video surveillance led Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies to arrest Jamie, who worked at the Honeoye Falls-Lima School District was put on leave.
