ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Milan and Cortina Winter Olympics are underway and there have already been so many memorable moments.
News10NBC is your home for the Olympics. We’ve been tracking some of the biggest stories from the games and the journey of athletes from the Rochester area. Here’s your guide to the Olympics for Monday.
Schedule for Monday, Feb. 9
Eileen Gu, the San Fransico native snowboarder who competes for China, will try to add another gold medal to her collection in the women’s big air final. In addition, Florida’s Erin Jackson, champion of the 500m speed skating event in Beijing, will go for gold in the women’s 1,000m.
For Team USA women’s hockey, which features five Bishop Kearney graduates including a Rochester native, they will try to dominate in their third straight game in the group stage. Figure skating also continues on Monday, where all eyes will be on three-time world champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates of the U.S. The pair is hearing into the competition after helping Team USA to secure a gold medal in the team event.

Three athletes from the Rochester area have been selected to represent Team USA for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Here’s what to know and when they compete.
Haley Winn: For women’s hockey, the roster includes five Bishop Kearney graduates, including Rochester native and defender Haley Winn. The other four graduates are Caroline Harvey (defender) of New Hampshire, Laila Edwards (forward) of Ohio, Kirsten Simms (forward) of Michigan, and Ava McNaughton (goalie) of Pennsylvania. Team USA has already won two of their games in the groups stages. Then, the quarterfinals will begin on Friday, Feb. 13. Here’s the rest of the schedule:
Monday, Feb. 9: USA vs. Switzerland Tuesday, Feb. 10: USA vs. CanadaChris Lillis: Chris Lillis, a Pittsford native who took home gold in the 2022 Beijing Olympics, will compete once again. Lillis won gold in the aerial freestyle skiing team event and placed sixth in individual men’s aerials. Unlike Beijing, this year, Lillis will get to compete in front of fans and interact with other athletes without worrying about the COVID-19 pandemic. He will compete in men’s moguls and men’s dual moguls. The 32-year-old Rochester native competed in the Beijing Olympics, where he placed 16th in moguls. There are other Rochester connections to the Winter Olympics. Emily Renna, a Fairport native, has been chosen as an alternate athlete for women’s bobsled for Team USA. She finished fourth at the 2025 World Championships for the two-woman bobsleigh.
In addition, Erin Zach, a 2014 graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, will serve as a linesperson for women’s hockey during the Olympics. She played hockey for RIT.
