February 5, 2026 Beyer Pool, Ames, IA SCY (25 yards) Results Final Score: Kansas 211, Iowa State 89Wrapping up their regular season schedules, Big 12 Conference opponents Kansas and Iowa State met in Ames, with the Jayhawks leaving with a statement win 211-89, ahead of the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships.
Kansas senior Lydia Lafferty nabbed a pair of wins, with dominant showings in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke; touching nearly two seconds better than the event field in the 100 back (55.31), and over a full second faster than any other competitor in the 100 fly (55.54).
Jayhawk sophomore Gabi Dyer picked up the first individual win of the day for Kansas, leading a 1-2 finish in the 1000 freestyle, touching nearly six seconds ahead of her teammate and fellow sophomore Tait Haag (10:17.33) in 10:11.72. Later, Dyer would finish atop the 500 free, turning in the only time under 5:00 in 4:58.30.
Kansas secured another 1-2 finish in the 200 free, as freshman Ivy Solt touched half a second faster than her teammate Hailey Farrell (1:52.84) to earn the win in 1:52.33. Farrell later went on to win the 200 IM by over three seconds in 2:05.61.
Kansas completed the sweep of the butterfly events with freshman Sammy Cummins leading the pack in 2:04.71, nearly a second faster than Iowa State’s Kendall Mallers (2:05.60).
The Jayhawks dominated the relays, with the opening 200 medley relay quartet of Lafferty (26.20), Ryan Johnston (28.25), Anna Gerhart (24.91), and Sophie Wallace (23.71) claiming the first relay win in 1:43.07.
The second of their two relay victories closed out the meet with Caroline Blake (24.29), Wallace (23.97), Mia Waldron (23.48), and Lafferty (23.93) putting a stamp on the day in the 200 free relay, stopping the clock in 1:35.67.
Blake and Wallace each earned solo wins as well, with Blake touching first in the 50 free in 23.98, just five hundredths better than Wallace (24.03). In the back half of the sprint double, Wallace would get the better of Blake by six hundredths, touching first in the 100 free, clocking 52.74.
The Jayhawks claimed the top two spots in the 1-meter diving, with Shiyun Lai leading the way in 299.03 with her teammate Lize Van Leeuwen less than a point behind in 298.05.
Iowa State’s Grace Swoboda was a bright spot for the Cyclones, winning both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 breast in 1:01.77 and 2:15.94, respectively, the only two swimming victories on the day for Iowa State.
The Cyclones also added a diving win with Kate Mitchell winning the 3-meter event in a career best 321.08.
