GENEVA, N.Y. — The former commander of the Geneva American Legion has finally learned his fate after pleading guilty to stealing over $90,000 from the legion.

An Ontario County Court Judge sentenced Dale Mosher on Wednesday to three to nine years in prison. He will also need to pay $10,000 in restitution.

As News10NBC has covered, Mosher was accused of stealing from the legion over the course of eight years, starting in December of 2015. Sheriff’s deputies said the investigation started after the new commander took office in June 2023. The new commander tried and mostly failed to get old financial records from Mosher. The commander said the few records he did obtain were suspicious.

After being charged, Mosher was due in court back in September, but never showed up. Deputies later learned that Mosher was in Hemlock Township, Pennsylvania. Police arrested him in October and sent him back to Ontario County.

As part of the plea to grand larceny, Mosher is prohibited from contacting several people, including those who accused him of sending threatening mail. Investigators say he stole a total of $92,698.
