Hackett was the Green Bay Packers OC under Matt LaFleur, Mike’s older brother, for three seasons (2019-2021).
LaFleur confirmed on Tuesday that he will be calling plays in his first season at helm, so that duty will not fall on Hackett.
Hackett spent last year as defensive analyst for the Packers and accepted a job to be the Miami Dolphins quarterbacks coach in January before pivoting and heading to Arizona.
He has 15 games of head-coaching experience with the Denver Broncos in 2022.
The 46-year-old who started his NFL coaching career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2006 was also the OC for the New York Jets during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He has worked with four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers for five seasons between Green Bay and New York.
In Arizona, Hackett fills the position vacated after Drew Petzing took the OC job with the Detroit Lions in late January in the wake of Jonathan Gannon’s firing.
