IT’S ALL HAPPENING! Breaking Down the Bulls’ Trades (So Far) ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

To borrow from Franklin D. Roosevelt, February 3, 2026, may be a day that lives in infamy for Chicago Bulls fans.

After all the complaining, all the begging, all the criticism—and everything we’ve thrown at them as Bulls fans—they finally delivered. The Bulls got BUSY yesterday. And we’ve still got another (almost) two days before the NBA’s trade deadline actually gets here!

Here’s a quick and simple update on what the Bulls did yesterday:

Bulls Add:Anfernee Simons, Jaden Ivey, Mike Conley, Jr. (kinda-sorta?), three second-round picks Bulls Subtract:Nikola Vucevic, Kevin Huerter, Jevon Carter, Dario Šarić (we barely knew thee), one second-round pick

Let’s get into the three trades (going back to acquiring Šarić) and discuss what the Bulls have done so far.

Trade 1: Bulls get Dario Šarić, two second-round picks

The first trade the Chicago Bulls made wasn’t one they were directly involved in, but it was one they helped facilitate. The deal was between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Sacramento Kings, with Keon Ellis and Dennis Schröder heading to Cleveland and De’Andre Hunter landing in Sacramento.

To make it all work, the Bulls stepped in and absorbed the expiring contract of Dario Šarić, picking up two second-round picks in the process: a 2027 second-round pick from Cleveland, and a 2029 second-round pick that is the least favorable among the Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, and New York Knicks. For a Bulls team already sitting on a full roster, some housekeeping was required.

Jevon Carter and Emmanuel Miller had to be waived in order to make the move official with the league office.

The Verdict: This was a great way to kick off trade season, especially in hindsight, knowing what the Bulls eventually did with the assets they brought in through these moves. By acquiring these second-round picks, the Bulls showed they were willing to let their own go in order to get deals done. And Dario Šarić? He was never the point, he was flipped for something the Bulls were actually interested in.

Trade 2: Bulls get Jaden Ivey and Mike Conley, Jr.

This is where Trade One instantly made even more sense. The Chicago Bulls were able to absorb the expiring contract of Kevin Huerter and flip the “longest-tenured” Bull, Dario Šarić, to bring in Jaden Ivey and Mike Conley. Detroit ended up with Kevin Huerter, Dario Šarić, and a 2026 first-round protected pick swap from Minnesota.

As for the Timberwolves, these moves felt very intentional, clearing space and keeping flexibility, maybe with a certain Greek Freak potentially looking for a new home.

The Verdict: The Chicago Bulls wanted a youth movement and a player who actually fits the Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis timeline. The loudest rumor beforehand was Rob Dillingham for Coby White. In comparison, this feels like the holy grail.

Yes, Jaden Ivey is in his first season back from a broken left fibula, and it hasn’t been pretty. His production was essentially cut in half. During that same stretch, the Pistons took a massive leap forward, and Ivey no longer had a place in it. That’s exactly why he became expendable.

But in his first three seasons, he showed faint signs of stardom. The former fifth overall pick is just 23 years old and can shoot the lights out from behind the arc. His value, sitting in the middle of injury recovery, was at its lowest, and suddenly he was labeled a “project.” That’s why the Bulls were able to give up practically nothing to land an intriguing young player on an expiring deal, one whose next contract could easily be cheaper than his actual production warrants.

And then there’s Mike Conley. The Bulls have no intention of keeping him, which means this trade may still end up bearing more fruit than it already has.

Trade 3: Bulls get Anfernee Simons, swap second-round picks

This was the only trade that really had rumblings, and it turns out it was reportedly already offered and turned down earlier this season by the Boston Celtics. With a few small tweaks, though, the Chicago Bulls were able to get it done, bringing in Anfernee Simons along with the most favorable 2026 second-round pick among the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, and Portland Trail Blazers.

In return, the Celtics landed Nikola Vučević and a Denver Nuggets 2027 second-round pick, while also avoiding a massive luxury tax bill.

The Verdict: This trade is about a lot more than what’s on the surface for the Bulls. With Simons, they get a 26-year-old guard, right around the same age as Coby White, who could fit Chicago’s longer-term plans and slides naturally into the sixth-man role he’s been pushed into this season. If he does fit, great. If he doesn’t, he’s either an expiring contract or someone the Bulls could re-sign on a longer, team-friendly deal.

And then there’s the pick. The one they received is basically a fringe first-rounder, since it’s very likely to land as the first or second pick of the second round. The Bulls wanted a first-round pick for Vooch, and in a way, they kind of got one.

Now the guard depth in Chicago is absurdly deep, which almost guarantees that one or two of them will be moved in the next 48 hours to bring in bigger pieces that actually fit the roster’s needs. They could also flip Simons the same way they did Šarić, sending him to a team desperate for a prime-age guard or looking for major salary relief.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, I can see a roster overhaul incoming! Stay Tuned.
