“Realistic Landing Spot” for KAT? Will Šarić Have a Role? Milwaukee Business Trip, and Other Bulls Bullets ...Middle East

Is it just me, or does that bad loss start to taste a little sweeter when the trade deadline is this close?

The Chicago Bulls have a golden opportunity tonight to add to my happiness—and their misery—by dropping another game, this time against a Central Division rival, the Milwaukee Bucks.

With the Charlotte Hornets hot on the Bulls tail, suddenly playing some of their best basketball of the season, the reality of Chicago missing the play-in is very real. And somehow, that hope gets reignited tonight.

Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

Peter Creveling-Imagn Images The Chicago Bulls take on a Giannis-less Milwaukee Bucks team tonight. And, somehow, losing might be harder than winning. Milwaukee is riding a five-game losing streak and has managed just one win in its last nine games. All the momentum to lose is firmly on the Bucks’ side, and that probably won’t sit well with every Chicago fan. That said, the Bulls have consistently shown a unique ability to lose games they absolutely shouldn’t. In fact, they own one of the worst records in the league against teams under .500. Add in the fact that Chicago will be shorthanded yet again tonight, and a loss feels, fairly imminent. But with the way this incoming draft class is performing, the boos right now may not be worth the cheers down the line. Speaking of Milwaukee, the Giannis trade saga feels like it’s reached peak hysteria as the deadline rapidly approaches. You know the Bucks have that date circled on the calendar, just waiting for the noise to quiet down until the offseason. Funnily enough, the Bulls have emerged as betting favorites to land Giannis, with the odds climbing daily, for reasons known to no one. I’d love to say the fire really caught when people spotted the former MVP at a Greek church in Chicago, but honestly, who knows what moves odds anymore.

— BullsMuse (@BullsMuse_) February 2, 2026 One thing I do enjoy is hearing Chicago’s name tossed around in trade rumors. The Bulls have some genuinely intriguing expiring contracts that need to be moved before the deadline—or they risk losing all value by the offseason. Chicago is still a big market, and even if the team isn’t run particularly well, it remains a potential superstar destination. Bleacher Report seems to buy into that idea. They recently dropped a think-tank article outlining what they consider “realistic” trade destinations for players on the block, and Chicago’s name popped up more times than I can remember seeing in one place. It definitely caught my attention—even if most of the proposals didn’t make a ton of sense. The biggest eye-catcher was Karl-Anthony Towns to Chicago. On paper, it fits the Bulls’ historical tendencies: acquire a 30-year-old big who struggles defensively but can shoot threes. Essentially, a younger, better version of Nikola Vučević, who still doesn’t align with Chicago’s timeline, nor does it make much sense for a New York team trying to contend right now. Other names tied to the Bulls included a mix of familiar and new. Jonathan Kuminga and Jeremy Sochan have floated around rumor circles before, while Jared McCain and Daniel Gafford were fresh additions. None of this is based on concrete reporting, it’s more about surveying the league and trying to impose logic on the chaos everyone hopes the trade deadline delivers.

— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) February 3, 2026 One move that has already materialized is Dario Šarić, who came to Chicago as part of the Cavs-Kings deal a few days ago. He hasn’t seen much run with his last two teams, but with the Bulls, there could be opportunity. Chicago didn’t trade for him specifically, they did it for the second-round picks, but with his contract expiring, why not see what he has left? It helps that he already has a relationship with someone in the locker room: fellow international big Nikola Vučević.

“I know him pretty well,” Vučević said. “He’s from the same region, I met him when he came to the NBA [in 2016], but I watched him when he was younger, too. He’s a very good guy, knows how to play. He’s a high-IQ player, experienced, been around the playoffs, been around winning teams. From that standpoint, he helps us a lot and gives us even more size. With the injuries at center, he can help.”
