First Alert Weather: Tracking our next significant deep freeze for the weekend ...Middle East

News by : (News10NBC) -

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Mostly cloudy with a few flurries today as temps climb to near 30 degrees. A cold front will arrive later this afternoon into the early evening with snow showers likely. Amounts will be an inch or less, so no widespread issues are expected. Just plan on a little wintry weather for a couple hours later Tuesday. Weather a little colder Wednesday and Thursday with temps around 20 and a few local lake flakes near Lake Ontario.

A more significant clipper system will arrive on Friday with an inch or two of snow for everyone in the afternoon and evening as a strong arctic front moves through Friday night. Behind this front some bitter cold air moves in as temps drop to near zero. Gusty winds will drive the wind chill well below zero on Saturday and Sunday. Along with the arctic cold will come some snow off Lake Ontario. The northerly flow will bring the most snow to the southern lakeshore with several inches likely. This will lead to blowing snow and reduced visibilities with the extreme cold. Stay tuned to News10 for updates on the timing of the snow and severity of the cold.
