A series of ATM thefts on the city’s Northwest Side has led to an alert issued by Chicago police this weekend.
According to Chicago police, the four burglaries have occurred over the last month at locations in the Belmont Gardens and Avondale neighborhoods, including two that happened within minutes of one another.
The most recent of the burglaries occurred last weekend in the 6000 block of West Fullerton, and followed the pattern of the previous crimes.
Police say in each crime suspects are targeting businesses while driving a blue SUV, and in at least one of the instances they were armed with handguns.
The following thefts have been linked to the group:
December 30, 4:11 a.m. – 4400 block of West Diversey Avenue
January 3, 3:40 a.m. – 2800 block of North Sacramento Avenue
January 3, 3:36 a.m. – 4600 block of West Diversey Avenue
January 25, 4:42 a.m. – 6000 block of West Fullerton Avenue
The suspects in the case, a total of seven in all, are seen on video wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black ski masks during the thefts.
In each of the burglaries, the suspects used a late-model blue Acura SUV, according to Chicago police.
Business owners and residents are asked to keep properties well-lit at night, and to report suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.
