Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said that strategic balance is a long-standing doctrine governing Egyptian foreign policy and has taken a clearer and more defined form since President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi assumed office.
In his remarks at a discussion of the book titled “The Strategic Balance: Features of Egyptian Foreign Policy Over 10 Years” which was held on the sidelines of the Cairo International Book Fair, Abdelatty said that Egypt is operating amid exceptional regional and international conditions marked by uncertainty and rapid change.
He noted that the world is in a transitional phase that is neither unipolar nor fully multipolar, creating a fluid and unpredictable environment with direct regional and global consequences.
The Foreign Minister also stated that any major or mid-sized state must have a governing doctrine for its foreign policy.
He added that Egypt’s strategic balance approach provides the flexibility needed to respond to ongoing regional and international developments while safeguarding national interests.
