The offseason to-do list grew again for the Chicago Bears, who are losing offensive coordinator Declan Doyle to the Baltimore Ravens.
In Baltimore, Doyle will have the same title he had in Chicago. However, being the Ravens’ offensive coordinator under defensive-leaning head coach Jesse Minter entails some different duties. Most notably, Doyle will take on play-calling responsibilities with in Baltimore — which is something he wasn’t going to do in Chicago with Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson having full command of that role.
As it stands, Declan Doyle becomes the latest member of the Bears to leave for a new gig:

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 30, 2026REPORT: Ravens are hiring Declan Doyle as new offensive coordinator
The week began with Declan Doyle saying “thanks, but no thanks” to the Philadelphia Eagles overtures as they were looking for a new offensive coordinator. Turning down Philly made sense with how unstable that situation seems to be from the outside. But when the Baltimore Ravens came calling shortly after Doyle’s rejection of the Eagles, I understood that this figured to be a more alluring proposition. Because it’s not just the opportunity to call plays in Baltimore, but it is also the chance to do so with two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. You can’t blame a guy for wanting to take on that challenge.

Since being eliminated from the playoffs with a Divisional Round loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the Chicago Bears have seen Running Backs Coach Eric Bieniemy leave to re-join the Kansas City Chiefs as their offensive coordinator, lost Assistant General Manager Ian Cunningham to the Atlanta Falcons, and now are waving goodbye to Declan Doyle as he heads off to Baltimore. Like Bieniemy, Doyle is one-and-done as a Bears assistant coach. It stings to lose quality assistants, but to leave and get a gig with more responsibilities is understandable. Plus, we should see it as a sign of respect that other teams want to hire away coaches from Ben Johnson’s staff.

Now, it is up to the head coach of Chicago’s football team to keep the quality hires coming. I’ll be curious to see what direction the Bears go in as they go about replacing Declan Doyle. Seeing that the offensive coordinator position could be a fast-track to bigger and better things could pique the interest of some up-and-coming coaches. Does anyone out there have a pick to click? Because I’m all ears…
