ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man will spend 25 years in state prison for a shooting that killed two people on North Goodman Street back in February of 2024.
Hector Ramos-Diaz was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty in November to two counts of first-degree manslaughter. In addition to prison time, he’s sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
Investigators say Ramos-Diaz killed both Frank Rosario Vazquez and Wahid Nazario after they got into an argument with him inside a bar. After they were all asked to leave, the victims walked to their car and, according to police, Ramos-Diaz fired at least 18 shots at them. Both died at the scene. A video that News10NBC obtained captured the moment that both were shot.
Shortly after the shooting, police say Ramos-Diaz fled to Puerto Rico, where he is originally from. In March 2024, Ramos-Diaz was arrested in Puerto Rico by the U.S. Marshals Violent Felony Fugitive Task Force. He was taken back to New York State in July 2024.
