DENVER — Unlike wine connoisseurs, beer drinkers typically don’t let their brews breathe after they crack open a can. But the organizers of one of the craft beer industry’s biggest annual events have decided that a little fresh air is just what they need to breathe some new life into the Great American Beer Festival.
The Boulder-based Brewers Association is moving the 2026 GABF from its longtime indoor home at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver to the Levitt Pavilion, an outdoor venue about five miles south in Denver’s Ruby Hilly neighborhood.
“Great American Beer Festival has always reflected where American craft beer is headed,” Ann Obenchain, BA vice president of marketing and communications, said in a prepared statement. “Taking the festival outdoors lets us reimagine what’s possible and we’re excited to bring fresh energy to the festival and provide an experience that feels uniquely Colorado.”
The festival will be held Oct. 10-11.
“This isn’t just a venue change for us, it’s an evolution,” Obenchain’s statement added. “We’ve listened to our attendees and we’re creating an outdoor festival that invites people to explore, discover, and celebrate craft beer in a completely new way — one that’s all about gathering your friends, finding your spot on the lawn, and enjoying great beer and good times together.”
