PLEASANTON — PG&E will be able to expand its East Bay presence after an all-cash purchase of a Pleasanton office building from Workday.
Oakland-based PG&E paid $21.8 million for the building at 5918 Stoneridge Mall Rd., according to documents filed on Jan. 29 with the Alameda County Recorder’s Office. Pacific Gas & Electric Co., the utility operation of the PG&E corporate holding company, was the official buyer, records show.
The five-story building totals 209,000 square feet, according to Property Shark.
“We have purchased an office in Pleasanton to provide adequate office workspace for our coworkers that are supporting the greater Bay Area, including the Tri-Valley,” PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian said.
Workday has been attempting to sell one or more office buildings in Pleasanton, where the provider of workforce-oriented software services has its headquarters.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether Workday was still seeking to sell or sublease office sites in Pleasanton.
PG&E previously made a deal to move its headquarters from San Francisco to Oakland. The investor-owned utility bought its current headquarters complex in June 2025 at 300 Lakeside Dr. as part of a $980 million deal.
