The 10% Club: Opta’s Best Under-the-Radar FPL Picks for Gameweek 24 ...Middle East

News by : (The Analyst) -

Who are the best under-the-radar players to add to your Fantasy Premier League team for Gameweek 24 of 2025-26? We assess the Opta data to reveal our top picks.

We’ve crunched the Opta data to identify five players you should consider transferring into your Fantasy Premier League teams this week, despite them currently being picked by fewer than 10% of FPL managers.

In identifying players who’ve been chosen by less than 10% of managers, the hope is you get the edge on your rivals by making under-the-radar picks others haven’t considered.

So, without any further ado…

GK – Djordje Petrovic | 4.5m | 4.3% Ownership

Bournemouth should be buzzing. They have taken seven points from their previous three Premier League games. It would’ve been nine without a stoppage-time overhead-kick from Charalampos Kostoulas for Brighton.

Their defence does remain a concern; only West Ham and Burnley have conceded more goals this season. But having limited Liverpool’s threat in open play quite easily at the weekend, only conceding from set-pieces, they can approach a reasonably favourable run of fixtures in good heart.

This all makes Djordje Petrovic a good-value selection at this point. Only two goalkeepers have amassed more FPL points in 2025-26 while costing no more than the Bournemouth man. Similarly, there are just three shot stoppers of any price with more save points, which are accumulated for every three saves made in a match.

The Cherries are at Wolves this weekend, then host Aston Villa. They then travel to Everton and West Ham before hosting Sunderland. Even if you don’t want Petrovic for that long, Bournemouth’s next five opponents collectively average 1.1 goals per league game this term, with only Villa (1.5) above 1.2. The 26-year-old has the opportunity to collect multiple clean sheets.

DEF – Jan-Paul van Hecke | 4.5m | 4.3% Ownership

Another player who is excellent for his FPL price is Brighton defender Jan-Paul van Hecke. Among players who cost a maximum of £4.5m, only Nordi Mukiele has earned more points in any position. As he is in over 10% of teams, we’ll focus on the Dutchman.

The Seagulls host Everton and Crystal Palace in their next two matches. The former are averaging less than a goal per game on the road (0.9) while only two teams in the division have scored fewer goals than the Eagles (24). With Jean-Philippe Mateta getting closer to a departure, it’s hard to see Palace’s scoring rate dramatically increasing either.

Both games being at the Amex Stadium is good news for Van Hecke. He collected at least five FPL points in each of his last four home appearances, with an average of 7.3 per game across those matches.

The Brighton defender has three league goals this season, joint-second for the position behind Tottenham pair Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. With two assists as well, Van Hecke could also provide a surprise boost to attack-oriented points as well as being a reliable defensive asset against off-form opposition.

MID – Pedro Neto | 7.1m | 6.2% Ownership

Chelsea welcome West Ham, Leeds and Burnley to Stamford Bridge before the end of February, with a game at Wolves between the first two home matches. As such, the Blues could open up a decent advantage over their rivals in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification over the next month.

We’re still getting acclimatised to how Liam Rosenior manages the club’s enormous squad, with the number of players to have featured in every match dwindling through his changes. After his sixth game, the only ever-presents are Enzo Fernández, Wesley Fofana and Pedro Neto.

Neto is a relatively expensive FPL acquisition given his output. Fernández is cheaper and has more points, for instance. But only four midfielders that feature in no more than 10% of teams have earned more points than the Portugal international, with none of them more than seven ahead of the former Wolves man.

While he disappointed against Napoli in midweek, Neto has had 12 shots (with six on target) in the Premier League since his last goal in the competition. Another one should be along soon, especially with some leaky defences lying in wait.

MID – Emi Buendía | 5.3m | 0.4% Ownership

Like Chelsea, Aston Villa have three of their next four league games in their own backyard. The strongest defence they face in their next five matches is only joint-ninth best for goals conceded in the 2025-26 Premier League. There should be plenty of attacking points on offer for Unai Emery’s boys in the next month, then.

Their squad is fascinating from an FPL perspective. Ollie Watkins is in 13.5% of teams, while midfielder Morgan Rogers (31.3%) is the eighth-most-selected player in the game. But no other Villa midfielder or strikers has been selected by more than 1.0% of managers. They’re all fair game around here.

If you trust points-per-start, then Amadou Onana is your man. If a player’s points total is more your thing, then John McGinn and Emiliano Buendía are tied on 71 apiece. However, the former has started 21 to the latter’s 11, plus the Scotland international is injured anyway.

Buendía is a student of the Harry Wilson school of bangers. They have both scored three goals from outside the box in the Premier League this season, one behind division leader Antoine Semenyo. The possibility of a goal is never off the table with these players. Just ask Newcastle, who suffered at the feet of Buendía’s long range prowess last weekend.

A goal that good should ensure he remains in Emery’s starting XI for the time being.

FWD – Igor Jesus | 5.8m | 1.0% Ownership

It can be hard to know when a player who’s underperforming against their expected goals will burst into life and cash the chips they’re due. Maybe they never will. A decent place to start is with a forward who has scored in two recent games, though.

As he drew a blank against the throttling defence of Arsenal, we can give Igor Jesus a pass for not finding the net in Nottingham Forest’s goalless draw two weeks ago. The Brazilian made up for that by netting the opener in the 2-0 win at Brentford last weekend.

Despite that goal, Jesus has still scored 1.74 goals fewer than expected in the league this term. Mateta, Beto and Jørgen Strand Larsen are the only forwards in under 10% of FPL teams who have underachieved by more.

But with the confidence of two recent strikes (having also scored in the FA Cup), this could be Jesus’ time to shine, especially as Forest face Crystal Palace, Leeds and Wolves in their next three, with two of those games at home.

If Jesus is ever going to catch up with his xG, this could be the time.
