BROCKPORT, N.Y. — A local group is holding a candlelit vigil in Brockport on Wednesday in opposition to the actions of federal immigration agents in Minneapolis.

The vigil comes after a U.S. Border Patrol officer shot and killed Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse, on Saturday in Minneapolis. Earlier this month, an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, while behind the wheel of her car.

Indivisible Westside Monroe County will hold the vigil from 7 to 8 p.m. at Sagawa Park at 96 Main St. Pastor Dan Brockway, who recently returned from a trip to Minneapolis to aid protesters, will be among the speakers.

Organizers say the vigil aims to “mourn the loss of life and to provide hope and support for the people of Minneapolis” as they protest against ICE and Border Patrol operations. There will be a prayer in memory of Pretti and Good and for the people of Minnesota.

Brockport First Baptist Church will be open as a warming center during the vigil. Safety marshals will be at the vigil.
