ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Another local athlete has been named to Team USA’s roster for the Milan and Cortina Winter Olympics.
Dylan Walczyk, a former Bristol Mountain athlete, will compete in freestyle skiing. The 32-year-old Rochester native also competed in the 2022 Beijing Olympics, where he placed 16th in men’s moguls. See News10NBC coverage of his competition in Beijing here.
Walczyk placed 12th in moguls and 16th in dual moguls during this year’s world championship. He’s finished as high as 8th place for moguls during world championships, according to his Team USA bio.
Chris Lillis, a Pittsford native skiier and gold medalist, and five former Bishop Kearney hockey players have also made the roster for Team USA. Last week, News10NBC spoke with Lillis’ parents about their son’s journey and how their children got into aerial skiing. Lillis won gold in the aerial freestyle skiing team event during the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
For women’s hockey, the roster includes Bishop Kearney graduates Haley Winn (defender), Caroline Harvey (defender), Laila Edwards (forward), Kirsten Simms (forward), and Ava McNaughton (goalie). You can read more about them here.
