Quarterback Darian Mensah and Duke have agreed to a settlement.
This brings an end to Duke’s lawsuit against Mensah, which was preventing him from enrolling at another university. Mensah, who signed a 2-year deal to play for Duke last offseason, entered the transfer portal earlier this month and has been linked to Miami in recent days.
“Darian extends his sincere gratitude to Duke University for engaging in good-faith discussions and reaching this resolution,” a statement from Mensah’s agency reads in-part. “He wishes the Blue Devils, coach Diaz, the staff, and the entire fan base continued success in the seasons ahead.”

— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) January 27, 2026Mensah was one of the best quarterbacks in college football this year, so his landing spot could have significant implications on next year’s College Football Playoff picture.
Mensah led the ACC with 3,973 passing yards and 34 touchdowns. He was a major reason why the Blue Devils were able to capture the ACC Championship in 2025, which was Manny Diaz’s first season in Durham.
This will be Mensah’s third school in three years. He played at Tulane during the 2024 campaign. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next program.
