2026 GENEVA INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGE

Friday, January 23rd – Sunday, January 25th Geneva, Switzerland LCM (50m) SwimSwam Preview Meet Central Entries Day 1 Recap Live Results Livestream

Day two of the 2026 Geneva International unfolded last night in Switzerland with both domestic and visiting international swimmers taking to the long course pool.

21-year-old Diogo Ribeiro of Portugal took on two events to continue his campaign, with the world champion contesting the men’s 50m fly and 100m butterfly races.

In the former, Ribeiro set himself apart from the pack in a time of 23.36, narrowly holding off Egyptian swimmer Abdelrahman Elaraby who settled for silver less than a tenth behind in 23.44.

Frenchman Clement Secchi also landed on the podium, hitting 23.80, good enough for bronze.

In the longer race, Ribeiro dropped down to the 3rd-place position, courtesy of his time of 53.08.

Surging to the wall first was Secchi, who clocked 52.39 ahead of Spain’s Isak Rodrigo, who secured silver in 52.45.

Ribeiro won both of these events at the 2024 World Championships, putting up times of 22.97 and 51.17, the latter representing a new national record. Last year in Singapore, Ribeiro placed 12th in the 100m fly (51.21) and 4th in the 50m fly (22.77).

A meet record bit the dust last night at the hands of Italy’s Lisa Angiolini.

Racing in the final of the women’s 200m breaststroke, 30-year-old Angiolini turned in a time of 2:24.86 to top the podium, erasing the former meet mark of 2:28.51 that Slovak swimmer Nikoleta Trnikova established five years ago.

Italian teammate Lucrezia Mancini touched in 2:30.53 and Dutch Olympic medalist Tes Schouten earned bronze in 2:32.04 in her first competition back since withdrawing from last year’s World Championships due to health issues.

As for winner Angiolini, the veteran’s time here checks in as the 2nd-swiftest performance of her career, sitting only behind the 2:24.71 she notched in 2024.

Angiolini also won the 50m breaststroke yesterday, with her outing of 30.95 keeping Belgium’s Florine Gaspard at bay, albeit by just .05. Gaspard snaagged silver in 31.00 and Lucrezia Mancini posted 32.21 as the bronze medalist.

Olympic medalists Caspar Corbeau of the Netherlands and Roman Mityukov of the host nation each grabbed gold, with the former hitting 27.54 in the 50m breast and the latter notching 1:56.86 in the 200m back.

Anita Gastaldi was another two-event winner on day two, reaping the top slot in both the women’s 50m back (28.39) and 100m fly (59.03).
