A Minnesota man fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol officer in Minneapolis on Saturday has a connection to Colorado, according to the Associated Press.
Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was killed in a confrontation with federal agents amid ongoing protests over the surge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in the Twin Cities and the killing of Renee Good.
Pretti’s parents, who live in Colorado, learned of the shooting when they were contacted by an AP reporter. They had told him to be careful when protesting in a recent conversation, they said.

“He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong, so he did participate in protests,” Michael Pretti said.
State records show Michael Pretti is registered to vote in Jefferson County with an Arvada address.
Good, 37, previously lived in Colorado and had moved to Minneapolis from Kansas City, Missouri, last year. She was shot and killed by an ICE officer on Jan. 7.
